The Honourable Kennedy Swaratsingh, Minister of Public Administration recently attended the Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM) 2008 Biennial Conference and the Second Commonwealth Public Service Ministers' Forum on Public Sector Development, in Bridgetown, Barbados.
The meetings engaged participants in discussions on achieving public service excellence by improving service delivery, fostering good governance and building institutional capacity. Under the conference theme "Continuing the Shared Journey: Achieving Public Service Excellence," speakers and workshops identified strategies and pre-requisites - both human and structural - and shared lessons in the development of a public service that actively responds to the needs of citizens. Minister Swaratsingh's presentation described the Public Sector Transformation efforts to improve Citizen Service Delivery in Trinidad and Tobago.
